Professor Jennifer Lee Receives NSF DMREF Award to Study the Dynamic Behavior of Well-Controlled Catalysts

November 25, 2025
Professor Jennifer Lee

Professor Jennifer Lee is the co-PI on a four-year project selected by the National Science Foundation Designing Materials to Revolutionize and Engineer our Future (DMREF) program. This project is led by Siddarth Krishna at University of Wisconsin-Madison, other members of the team include UW-Madison faculty Manos Mavrikakis and Jeff Greeley. The team will integrate advanced computer modeling, accelerated by artificial intelligence and machine learning, with experimental tools to study how catalyst structures evolve during reactions relevant to ammonia chemistry. The Lee Group will be contributing to the synthesis of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles and in situ characterization of dynamic behavior using high-resolution microscopy and spectroscopy. The project is one of 25 DMREF projects awarded in 2025 to 104 researchers at 44 universities across 25 states. Here's the link to the news press from NSF: https://dmref.org/news/7393.
